From the 20th of march until the 15th of April Caspari Center Had 21 Norwegian Teology students invading our Daily life and work. I will have to say that the change in the otherwise so similar looking working weeks, were very much welcome. It braught alot of jobs for us as Volunteers, prior to there visit and after the Moving of Caspari we had two additional volunteers both from Finland coming to our aid, to help out with the Students - Paivi and Toni. Paivi also joined Heidi, Janne and I in our Caspari flat and has been staying there ever since. I must admit that i am gratefull the two of them where here helping out during the visit of the Students, otherwise i think Heidi and I would have developed Stress. So thank you Caspari for being so considered.
What did I have to do during the visit?
One of my major contributions to the Study group were primarily sitting in the library.
Taking care of the payments, writing checks and also giving back money for the use of Taxa. which sometimes showed to be a bit of a hassle, and our casebox had to be filled up again and again.
My working hours changed into - Weekend shift, Night shift and Day shift.
That might seem alittle anoying from your point of view, but for me being a true "B-human" as we call it in Denmark, ( Not good at mornings, and awake in the night) It was a good change, I enjoyed my days off and then heeding of for work in the afternoon.
I must also admit thought that the change was great and it really made the office work and environtment seem brighter for me. However It is also good to feel relaxed again and get back to the daily routines.
I also had the opportunity to participate in one of their guided tours, Heidi and I accompanied them to Qumran, En gedi, Massada and the Dead sea. Here our job were to prepare breakfast, lunch, a liturgical meal. before the trip we had to shop at the Jewish market to buy all the supplies, the big bag we had with us were severely loaded and heavy when we left the market to walk back to Caspari with our shoppings. I am grateful that the bag had wheels otherwise i would have been in major trouble.
We had the rare opportunity to visit one of the Caves at qumran, which is normally not allowed for turist groups. however our guide Steve Phann had worked at Qumran and he had permission to take us to one of the Caves. Steve really knew a lot, maybe too much, but i am pretty sure we all learned at least something from his teachings. We also acted a sunrise devotion in true Essene Style, with prayers, singing and more praying. Later we had to participate in a liturgical meal in true essene style as well, the only trouble was that Heidi and I had forgotten the wine bottel opener and therefore some of our students came up with a clever way to open it without the little practical tool.
Here are some pictures from our tour.
